Certification targets smaller firms

Lotus Development Corp has created the new Certified Lotus Specialist (CLS) program to address the requirements of small and mid-sized businesses. The CLS program provides a technique for gauging the basic technical skills levels relating to the development and administration of Internet- and intranet-based solutions built around Lotus products. CLS Program Mgr Barbara Bowen noted that the CLS designation enables people who may not believe that they are 'technical,' in the traditional sense of the term, to learn and develop the necessary support skills.

Kaiser Permanente begins new, strategic approach to IT training
Article Abstract:
Kaiser Permanente has created a new position of Performance and Learning Consultant as a first step in the centralization of its information technology (IT) services. The creation of the new position, which has been filled by former IT training manager Rita Marshall, is aimed at assisting the firm in meeting new goals and ensuring that employee performance is in line with the overall strategic plan. Marshall and the new training manager's concern is to consider a national audience of about 2,500 IS staff.
