NEC Units Expand Scale of Computer Performance
Article Abstract:
NEC and NEC-Toshiba Information Systems have begun leasing the new NEC ACOS System 410 Model 40 high-end mainframe. It operates at close to two times the speed of the model 30, has 8Kbytes cache and up to 12Mbytes RAM. With two peripheral disk drives, storage increases to 308Mbytes. It uses the ACOS-6-MVX multi-virtual extended operating system. It leases for two million yen a month. NEC's new N7255 multiple CPU processor will be available in March 1985 for 985,000 yen. The new N7775 electronic disk drive will be ready in September 1985 for 470,000 yen. A photograph of the ACOS System 410 Model 40 is included.

Panafacom Network Links Expand PC Capabilities
Article Abstract:
Panafacom has introduced a new low-end minicomputer and the UPLINKIII-PS which allows any personal computers (PCs) that can use the Panafacom EPOC programs to be linked. A common data pool can be used to provide such services as electronic mail. Panafacom will make its DRESSYII-PS graphics application system available later in November 1984 for 14.9 million yen. The new minicomputer is the PFU-1200II, designed for laboratory applications, with 2Mbytes storage. Available in late November 1984, it will cost 11.4 million yen.
