Panasonic: Light yet rugged mobile computers tackle tasks at 200MHz speeds

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. has introduced its new Let's Note mobile computer series. Let's Note features sophisticated wireless capabilities with the latest interface formats for connection to a wide variety of peripherals and systems. It is powered from a Pentium MMX CPU running at 200MHz and has a maximum memory of 96MB. Let's Note has a built in stereo sound that is compatible with SoundBlaster Pro. A thin battery provides up to 5 hours of operation when the computer is in the power-saving mode.

18.1-inch TFT LCD matches 20-inch CRT monitor

Sharp Corp has introduced its MN-980-H50 desktop computer with an 18.1- inch thin-film transistor LCD monitor. The model runs with a 500MHz Pentium III processor, incorporates a 64MB synchronous DRAM and an 8MB video memory, a 20GB hard disc drive and a 24x-speed CD-ROM drive. The computer adopts a PCI/ISA port, a PCI port and two Universal Serial Bus ports.
