Speaking Practically: In Search of Word Processing Progress
Article Abstract:
Word processing departments are unhappy with the competition from personal computers. Management complains of being down-graded and ignored. Word processing operations can run into problems during system conversions when output includes special features or irregular reports. New equipment, such as optical character readers and voice-data communications, is being acquired at varying rates. A great deal of interest is being shown in graphics to supplement text and in micrographics to cut down on paper storage. User need is replacing cost-effectiveness as a criterion for purchases.

Speaking Practically - Preparing for Career Growth
Article Abstract:
There are two methods to develop a career. One is through education; the other is by documenting and updating job responsibilities. Guidelines are given for how to accomplish the latter.
