The State of the Copier Industry: Opportunities for Future Growth
Article Abstract:
The recent growth of Japanese Plain Paper Copiers (PPCs) is attributed to the application of the latest design-engineering techniques and production technology. These copiers are classified according to use, design, reproduction method (optical system with movable mirror, movable lens optical system, belt drive system). The manufacturers of PPCs are using the latest technologies in copier design to improve the methods of moving and reproducing copies. Features, such as color copy enlargements and reductions, and collation and binding have been added to these copiers. This has produced quick, inexpensive, reliable and easy to maintain copiers for individual or business use.

Intelligent Copier Systems Simplify Repetitive Office Work

The RICORE 3000, by Ricoh, is an intelligent copier. It uses digital information for the input-output of word and image information; performs editing functions; communicates with other machines as part of a local network. This copier combines an image processor with a laser printer. It has proven to be both a time saving and cost effective device for companies. Future developments focus upon systems consisting of the intelligent copier connected to office computers and filing equipment.
