Word Processing
Article Abstract:
In order to use a word processing application effectively on a personal computer (PC), the PC should have a keyboard that positions the backspace, tab and return keys as on a typewriter. A repeating backspace key and spacebar, plus a shift key on each side of the spacebar, are desirable features. The screen should display over eighty characters per line and the display should resemble the print output. Usable storage space on the diskette should be adequate for editing and storing complete documents. Quality software is more important than features that are not used.

Word Processing
Article Abstract:
Marty Gruhn describes a recent experience in shopping for a laptop computer and wordprocessing software. The problems of dealing with an uninformed salesman and inoperable machines make a sad tale. Questions about external storage, memory, and battery life go unanswered. Exasperated, the author has settled for an electronic typewriter, at least for now.
