AmEx aims card at small business

American Express (AmEx) has launched a direct-mail campaign for its new American Express Community Business credit card, aimed at small businesses. AmEx is marketing the card through 11 small-business organizations as partners, including the American Assn of People with Disabilities, the Business Women's Network, the Latin Business Assn and the National Dental Assn. These organizations will receive an undisclosed percentage for every small-business owner who links to the AmEx site through the partners' site.

Hooked on Phonics tries I-TV spots

Gateway Learning Corp, developer of the Hooked on Phonics product line, will include interactive television features to its short- and long-form infomercials. The enhancements will allow viewers to click on links to a microsite for more information on Hooked on Phonics products. The company will test the interactive infomercials on Lifetime Television, The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel and The Weather Channel. The Hooked on Phonics are math and reading aid materials for children three to eight.

Biozhem readies infomercial for skin-care product

Biozhem Cosmeceuticals will unveil a 30-minute infomercial for its Cell Life ProteinB Complex. The infomercial will target women 30 and older, and will offer a 60-day supply of the topical skin gel and an exfoliating activator gel. The TV ad will direct consumers to a toll-free phone number for purchasing the product, which will retail for $120. Biozhem plans to sell the product through its Web site and at its retail outlets in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona and California.
