Delivery Confirmation to debut in spring
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Postal Service is slated to launch in spring 1999 its long-awaited Priority Mail and Standard-B mail-tracking services. Delivery Confirmation, which is slated to debut in March 1999, allows customers deploy an identifying barcode to each mail piece and capture acceptance records using hand-held scanners. To be rolled out in May 1999, Signature Confirmation aims to provide customers an electronic return receipt that includes a copy of the customer's printed name, signature and address. Customers requesting the receipt with the information will get it through fax or mail. USPS will promote the new system through a major direct mail and brand advertising campaign in 1999.
