EBags strikes deal with United Airlines

EBags announced that it is a featured partner on United Airlines' Web site, www.united.com. Both firms are offering 250 United frequent-flier miles for purchases worth more than $50 at the site. EBags will include coupons and other promos in the airline's frequent-flier statements. In turn, United will include EBags in some of its e-mail campaigns. EBags is also negotiating similar arrangements with other airlines, according to Peter Cobb, a co-founder of the firm.

Northwest adds wireless service for flight updates

Northwest Airlines is launching a wireless service that enables customers to request e-mail updates about flight status. The e-mails can be sent to alphanumeric pagers, wireless phones, hand-held Internet devices and desktop computers. Request for updates should be in from one to four hours before the plane's departure. The new service also enables customers to check their reservvations at www.wireless.nwa.com.

Web fuels revenue for Northwest Airlines

Northwest Airlines has experienced a steady growth of ticket sales throughout the year 2000. The airline has declared that 83% of its flights for Jun 2000 are full, a figure which has broken its monthly record. The increase is attributed to online and offline promotions that drive people to the airline's Web site. Northwest Airlines has run coupons in travel magazines for special deals at the site.
