FTC settles pyramid complaint in multilevel marketing scheme

2Xtreme Performance International, USAsurance Group/Akahi and AFEW Inc, as well as John T. Polk, Patrick Farah and Peter Hirsch in late Jan 2001 settled Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) charges that they violated federal statute. On Dec 9, 1999, the FTC filed lawsuit in US District Court in Maryland that sought a preliminary and permanent injunctions against the defendants who promoted a pyramid scheme that was disguised as a legitimate, multilevel marketing business.
