UPS sees profit surge amid e-commerce
Article Abstract:
United Parcel Service, in its first financial report as a publicly traded firm, reported $661 million in earnings, or $0.56 a diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 1999, up from $482 million, or $0.43, in a comparable period a year ago. Revenues increased 11.7% to $7.45 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 1999. The Atlanta, GA-based company said the earnings and revenue increases were due to growth in electronic commerce and international business.

FedEx quarterly profit rises 26 percent

FedEx reported that profits were up by 26 percent for the quarter ending Nov. 30, 2001. Tax benefits and lower fuel costs were cited as the reasons for the profit increase.
