Article Abstract:
The Royal Victoria Dock footbridge, London, England, is due to be opened during the latter part of the summer in 1999. The design was the result of a competition held by the Docklands Development Corporation. It was won by Architect Lifschutz Davidson. It was initially planned the design should include a cable car system but concerns over the cost of operating the system has led to the bridge being made suitable for pedestrians. Access to the bridge will be by stairs and lifts. The 135 m bridge will cost 4.2 million pounds sterling.
