The first International Marine Repair and Refit Exhibition and Conference (IMREX) held in Fort Lauderdale, FL, from Apr 14, 2000, through Apr 16, 2000, garnered positive reviews from participants despite its low turnout. This event reportedly drew only 404 visitors, including yacht owners, yacht captains and members of the yachting and marine repair and refit sectors. The show is intended to enable industry players to network, share information and learn about the latest technologies and regulations affecting the ownership, operation and management of contemporary yachts.

The Fort Lauderdale boat show is considered as the precursor of the preceding season's business performance and this year it is sending all the good signals industry was waiting for three years. The show was predicted to set records by the promoter of the event Kaye Pearson; the show has set record in the number of visitors and mega sale was reported by the participants of the event.

International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference for the year 2004 was held in Miami. The exhibition was held on a larger space and recorded a hike in attendance, which crossed the 5,000 mark.
