JCPenney Direct Marketing Services goes interactive to improve efficiency

JCPenney Direct Marketing Services has added an interactive voice response technology called IVR to its customer service call center to make it more efficient. The new technology has enabled agents to preserve the satisfaction levels of customers while handling more complicated customer inquiries. The IVR becomes applicable only if the decisioning process determines that the caller has simple questions that can be handled by the machine. However, if the customer gets to be transferred to a live agent, the interactions that have taken place using the IVR gets to be routed to the agent so that the customer would not need to repeat himself.

Gary Player Direct (GPD), a direct marketer of Gary Player brand golf equipment, has executed a General Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors agreement to avoid the cost of a bankruptcy filing. The company closed in Feb 2000, after failing to find a merger partner to help it from deep financial troubles. The agreement authorizes an unaffiliated entity to sell GPD's assests and distribute the proceeds to creditors.

Providian, AllAdvantage partner

Providian Financial has entered into a marketing agreement with AllAdvantage. The deal covers the promotion of Providian's Aria Visa card which it developed in 1999 specificially for promotion through the Internet. AllAdvantage is an Internet infomediary that delivers direct marketing offers to its members based on data they provide about themselves. The transaction will enable AllAdvantage integrate a credit card with other targeted merchant promotions.
