Splitting headache
Article Abstract:
Some industry experts have suggested the National Centre for Glass, Sunderland, England, has the incorrect type of glass on its roof. Others blame vandals and children for damage to the glass. The innovative building, designed by Architect Andy Gollifer, is suffering from cracks in its glass roof and leaks around the furnace chimneys. The roof had shown signs of cracking whilst it was being built and several panels had to be renewed. Arup Facades Designer Graham Dodd has suggested the roof is cracking because of thermal movement. Arup Facades designed the roof.
