$4.5-billion deal will bring interactive TV to millions
Article Abstract:
General Instrument Corp. of Horsham, PA, has landed contracts to produce 15 million set-top boxes for cable companies over the next three to five years. The orders are worth a combined $4.5 billion, an amount that should convince marketers on the huge potential of interactive television and direct response television, in particular. Some marketers, however, are concerned whether such interactive technology will really provide what brand managers and advertisers are looking for.
