Danger on the dotted line
Article Abstract:
The UK subcontractor domestic contract form DOM/1 may led to serious financial consequences for builders who face incurring commercial risks because of flaws within the contract. An amendment to DOM/1 entails changes to the payment and set-off regulations of subcontractors, which may affect payments to builders where the contractor has become insolvent. The promotion of cash bonds is also required by DOM/1, although the UK building industry prefers retention bonds.
