Beware bogus tin rattlers
Article Abstract:
The UK Charity Commission has issued warnings to the public that there are unlicensed people purporting to be collecting for charities. Some of those giving rise to anxiety include The Foundation for Nephrology which, although a registered charity, has been caught making collections without a licence, the Asthma Support Fund, which is not registered and did not have the approval of Tesco to collect in front of its stores, Help the Homeless, the Evergreen Trust and rose vendors who might not be giving more than 5% to charity.

Surveyors
Article Abstract:
Comparisons of a house valuation report, a house buyer's report and a structural survey by three different surveyors finds that a house buyers report at 350 pounds sterling offers more detail than a valuation report at 141 pounds sterling. A full structural survey at more than 400 pounds sterling is useful when purchasing old properties. Ways of choosing a good surveyor are described, including checking qualifications.

Housebuyer beware
Article Abstract:
Housebuyers get a poor deal on property surveys from chartered surveyors. The surveyors have contracts which exclude oversight and limit the survey. Housebuyers should opt for a structural survey, instead of just a home buyer's report or mortgage vaulation, as it is more detailed while costing more. Housebuyers should use a surveyor who has been recommended by a friend.
