Atari on the Rebound?
Article Abstract:
James Morgan took over executive control of Atari in June 1983 and found the company beset with internal politics, an ongoing tradition of excess, and poor marketing ideas. Atari lost over five hundred million dollars in 1983. One of Atari's major problems was that it had forty-nine separate office buildings, resulting in excessive overhead. Atari was working to get products to the market quickly, rather than to get them there well. Atari is now being run as a serious business. Overhead has been cut forty per cent, sales policy changed and return policy changed.
