Fridge-freezers
Article Abstract:
Fridge-freezers with a single thermostat control for both the freezer and fridge sections are most popular, but a model with separate thermostat controls is more suitable for users wishing to freeze large volumes of fresh food. Models with the fridge on top are usually more convenient to use, and also give more freezer space. Frost-free models, which require no defrosting, are more expensive and have less freezer storage space, while all models still contain CFCs, and manufacturers are making few moves to develop CFC-free units.

The big chill
Article Abstract:
Work-top height fridges need not be expensive to be good. Thermometers are not supplied. Energy-efficient versions save at least 15 pounds sterling a year. The Snowcap 150DL is a cheap, energy-efficient fridge with an icebox, at 130 pounds sterling, although it is noisy. The Snowcap 150LA is an excellent larder fridge costing 140 pounds sterling. The flexibility of storage space varies. The German company DKK is making the first CFC-free fridge with the brand name 'Foron.'
