Is it worth going private?
Article Abstract:
Avoiding NHS waiting lists was the main reason for 45% of insured people taking out their private medical insurance. However, most NHS patients do not have to wait long for treatment. The benefits of private care include better food, internal decoration, and information on conditions and treatments. Both offer satisfactory privacy and visiting arrangements. Disadvantages of private care include a lack of emergency back-up facilities and 24-hour medical staff cover, and recent substantial price increases.
