In the supermini range, the Nissan Micra has proved to be reliable and economical but the ride quality is not good on rough surfaces and both Nissans are noisy. The VW Polo is a good choice because it reliable. However, the interior space is limited. The Renault 21 has been unreliable, the steering is heavy and it is also noisy. The Toyota Camry is a good second-hand buy because it is reliable and has no particular faults or breakdowns.

However, the depreciation on this class of car is very high and buyers considering an executive car could pick up a bargain by opting for a used automobile. There are five really good executive cars available at present. The Volvo 850 has the best secondary safety aspects. The Audi 100 and A6 are spacious and quiet, but give an uncomfortable ride. The BMW 5-series depreciates slowly and has good secondary safety. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is quiet and offers a smooth ride. The Toyota Camry is easy to drive.
