A survey of 200 pharmacies in Australia tested the quality of service and medical advice given in a structured blind sales interview involving the purchase of asthma inhalers or indigestion relivers. Even neighboring pharmacies varied widely in price, service, and quality of advice provided.

Consumer affairs departments: just what does your tax dollar buy?

Results of a survey of the accuracy and reliability of the information provided by the consumer affairs departments of Australian states are presented. Almost half of the responses to five typical consumer problems were rated poor or very poor.
