Mobile phone networks offer different handsets so it is important to consider that all accessories required are provide. Batteries are an important accessory, and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries are the most common, although lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are becoming more common. Vibrating batteries allow calls to be received where a ring would not be appropriate. All phones are provided with a charging device, but their charge times vary. Other possible features include alpha tagging, auto redial, battery low warning, handsfree speech, memory dial and standby time.

Mobile phone purchasers should carefully review the market in search of good after sales services. Mobile phone companies vary enormously in the service they provide. They rarely offer a mail service and are normally not available outside office hours. The after sales service at phone companies Nokia and One 2 One are reviewed. Nokia has recently started a postal service although it appears to be inefficient.
