Article Abstract:

A test of 12 single lens reflex cameras costing from 200 pounds sterling to 600 pounds suggested that the best buys were the Minolta Dynax 505si at 260 pounds, the Minolta Vectis S-1 at 200 pounds and the Pentax MZ-50 at 230 pounds. All three have five exposure modes and predictive autofocus. The Minolta Dynax also has exposure bracketing. The best model of all was the Minolta Vectis S-1 because it takes excellent pictures, is easy to operate and has a wide range of APS features. All the cameras tested worked satisfactorily.

Article Abstract:

Single lens reflex (SLR) cameras permit the serious photographer to control exposure and depth of field and choose suitable lens and flash. The main features available on autofocus cameras are explained. Eighteen wide-angleto telephoto zoom lenses and cameras are tested. Twenty-six colour slide films are evaluated for colour and sharpness. The Canon EOS 1000FN camera with the Canon EF USM 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 lens and the Minolta Dynax 5xi with the Minolta AF Zoom xi 28-80mm f4-5.6 are recommended.

Article Abstract:

Single lens reflex (SLR) cameras allow the user to take better good photographs than compact cameras. A good manual camera is the Pentax P30T, which costs 230 pounds sterling and has a 35-80 mm SMC-A Zoom lens. The best performing autofocus cameras are the Minolta Dynax 7xi, costing 640 pounds sterling and the Dynax 700si, priced at 650 pounds sterling, which both have an AF Zoom ranging from 28-80 mm.
