Article Abstract:
The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) has several advantages over the ordinary telephone system, the main one being speed of transmission. Applications for ISDN include videoconferencing, Internet access and file transfer. Disadvantages of ISDN include its premium cost and lack of user information, while for some applications, the ordinary telephone network may be acceptable. The advantages and disadvantages of ISDN are further discussed.
