Safety matters
Article Abstract:
It is very important to obtain independent information about the secondary safety of a new car, as manufacturers' information can be misleading. Independent safety checks look at aspects including front-on crashes, roll-over accidents, airbags and head restraints, and consider the safety of all occupants. In general, safety standards are usually higher in larger cars. Indeed, a older large car may be safer than a newer small one.

Article Abstract:
Accident investigators examined 50 areas of secondary safety in cars. The best scoring cars only attain 60% of the preferred results. Consumers' Association experts campaign for more realistic tests on frontal impact and steering-wheel testing.
