Article Abstract:
Recent car crash-testing has revealed that best overall protection is offered by the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo. The tests included front and side-impact tests and involved eight popular makes of small car. The Ford Fiesta gave the best abdominal protection in the side impact test while the Renault Clio, Peugeot 106 and Nissan Micra performed badly in this test. The Vauxhall Corsa performed the worst in the front impact test, while the Peugeot 106 offered the best protection for the legs and ankles. Other areas of concern, such as head restraints, airbags, and child restraints are discussed.

The protection for belongings inside cars has to be improved by using laminated glass in side windows adding lockable boxes, improving alarms, and locking systems. A few cars were tested for security and the results indicated that very few cars available provide protection from car theft and belongings.
