Let it RIP
Article Abstract:
Raster Image Processor (RIP) is a means of connecting colour copiers to computers. It translates an Adobe PostScript file of the image on a computer to a 'bitmap' which can be used by the copier, a process known as 'ripping'. RIP is standard on colour printers but is an optional extra on colour copiers. The UK market for workgroup colour copier RIPs is Electronics For Imaging with a 74% share, followed by Splash with 11% and Colorbus with 6%.
