The life insurance lottery
Article Abstract:
Life insurance bought as an investment has provided good returns in the past but investment-type policies are not the most suitable form of life insurance for most people. Such policies provide poor protection for the insured's dependents and require premiums to be paid for at least 10 years to provide any reasonable return. Surrendering a life insurance policy early is not advised, even if the policy is unsuitable, because the policyholder is likely to get very little money back. Advice on buying life insurance and details of low-cost endowment policies are included.
