When it comes to the crunch
Article Abstract:
Tests which involved the crashing of a Fiat Punto, Vauxhall Corsa, and Ford Fiesta revealed serious safety problems. The tests demonstrated that folding rear seat backs are often not strong enough to prevent luggage from forcing through the car. A passenger airbag can kill a child in a rear-facing childseat installed on the passenger seat; and airbags and seat-belt pretensioners do not protect as much as anticipated.

Light trucks and safety
Article Abstract:
Small pickup trucks have the highest rate of fatal accidents than any other type of vehicle, in part because of a lack of stability if the cargo area is empty and thus not able to provide additional weight in an accident. Results of crash tests and factors that affect chance of injury are described.

Safety
Article Abstract:
New automobiles have significant safety features that can improve the likelihood of surviving a crash. The use of air bags and anti-lock brakes does not prevent injury, only reduce it. Testing shows that larger cars are more likely to provide better protection, but testing methods are flawed.
