Origin and deformation of the Neogene-Recent Maghrebian foredeep at the Gela Nappe, SE Sicily
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the Maghrebian foredeep system. The Maghrebian-Apennine orogenic system, which is found in Sicily, presents one of the few exposures of orogenic foreland. The Gela Nappe, which is part of the system, is composed of sediments from late Oligocene to early Pliocene. A correlation is observed between foreland and foredeep basin stratigraphic units of the late Miocene period. Normal faults limited the foredeep basin toward the foreland.

The Palaeozoic history of an unusual intracratonic thrust belt in central Australia based on 40Ar-39Ar, K-Ar and fission track dating
Article Abstract:
An analysis describing the Amadeus basin in central australia is presented. The depression, which was formed during late Proterozoic to mid-Palaeozoic period, experienced intraplate thrusting. The thrusting process was characterized by reactivation of the period's province boundary, which was an internal part of basement metamorphic rocks. It is shown that cooling rates od 3-10 degrees celsius per Ma occurred without increased heat flow.
