Reply to comments by L.D. Danny Harvey on 'An Empirical Study of the Economic Effects of Climate Change on World Agriculture', by S. Kane, J. Reilly, and J. Tobey
Article Abstract:
The criticism raised against the conclusion that climatic changes causing substantial reductions in agricultural output would have only modest effects on global agricultural production and economic welfare was evaluated. Welfare economics and its role in policy choice was discussed. Natural resource limits, contribution of agricultural production to GDP and the consequences of adaptation to climatic changes for human populations were also discussed.

Societal adaptation to climate variability and change: an introduction
Article Abstract:
Important components of successful sociopolitical response to climatic changes are examined. These include the role of institutions in obtaining data and forming policy, the integration of adaptive response to changes and the mitigation of environmental risk, and the need for flexibility in mapping and calculating predictions of effects.
