Contextual analysis of models of group selection, soft selection, hard selection, and the evolution of altruism
Article Abstract:
The relationships among group, hard and soft selection were examined by contextual analysis to understand the evolutionary significance of group selection. Phenotypic selection was partitioned into individual and group components using partial regressions. The relative contributions of group selection and individual selection under the three models of selection were determined. W. D. Hamilton's rule for the evolution of altruistic behavior was rederived to determine when the effects of group selection outweigh the effects of individual selection.

Multilevel selection in natural populations of Impatiens capensis
Article Abstract:
A study of opposing individuals and group selection in natural population of jewelweed, Impatiens capensis, using contextual analysis shows that frequency-dependent selection at individual levels is an interaction between the traits of individuals, their microhabitat and fitness. Individual selection prefers large size and superior individuals. Components of genetic variation are present at different level of selection.

Design and interpretation of experimental studies of interdemic selection: a reply to Getty
Article Abstract:
Results from previous experiments in group selection show the relationship between mean demic and individual fitness is controlled by the experimenters. An interdemic selection protocol that includes random and phase 3 migration might happen in nature, but this disappears when all migration is random.
