Deep seismic profile of the Amazonian craton (Northern Brazil)
Article Abstract:
Seismic data fromthe Amazonian craton in northern Brazil shows that the Precambrian crust is comprised by an 8-9 km transparent basin, followed by a reflective middle and lower crust. The Moho is marked at a depth of about 45 km. Dipping and asymmetric arcuate reflections and diffractions from the middle and lower crustmay be due to Proterozoic anorogenic magmatic activity or Mesozoic mafic intrusion. Similar seismic data from eastern Australia and the central US craton support such tectonic evolution of cratonic terranes. The data suggests that the transparent upper crust is a rheological boundary.

Deep structure of the continental lithosphere in an unextended orogen: an explosive-source seismic reflection profile in the Urals (Urals Seismic Experiment and Integrated Studies (URSEIS 1995))
Article Abstract:
Explosive-source near-vertical seismic reflection profiles from the Urals Seismic Experiment and Integrated Studies were employed in examining the continental lithosphere deep structure in an unextended orogen. Results show that the Moho's reflection character functioned as a structural detachment underneath the Tans-Uralian Zone and acts as a tectonic boundary between East Uralian Zone terranes. Results also reveal that the Moho is a 3-9 km thick reflective zone that consists of an upper mantle in the crustal root.

Crustal architecture of the southern Uralides from true amplitude processing of the Urals Seismic Experiment and Integrated Studies (URSEIS) vibroseis profile
Article Abstract:
The results of true amplitude processing of the Urals Seismic Experiment and Integrated Studies vibroseis data are presented. The Uralides are a Paleozoic orogen preserved quite intact within a tectonic plate. There is a bivergent reflection architecture, with each of the main tectonic units having a unique reflection character.
