Discussion on indications of glaciation at the base of the Proterozoic Stoer Group (Torridonian), NW Scotland
Article Abstract:
The conclusions derived by Davison and Hambrey concerning early Stoer Group sediments are evaluated and qualified. Davison, et al. appear to come out with contradictory conclusions as in the statement that the unconformity underneath the Stoer Group constitutes a time plane which is at variance with single glaciation theory. Furthermore, the existence of smooth Precambrian contacts in roches moutonnees as pointed out by Davison, et al. should not connote the existence of the same in other areas.

Discussion on the generation of the Tay Nappe, Scotland, by large-scale SE-directed shearing
Article Abstract:
A revised model for the development of the Tay Nappe, Scotland, is evaluated. The nature and geometry of D1 and D2 structures in the Dalradian of the Southern Highlands are investigated. Field evidence is found to be inconsistent with the proposed model. Observations show that the D1 structures were prone before the onset of D2 and that D2 structures were the result mainly of northwesterly directed simple shear.
