Discussion on the erosional and uplift history of NE Atlantic passive margins: constraints on a passing plume
Article Abstract:
Several corrections are made to Clift et al's study on the erosional and uplift history of Northeast Atlantic passive margins. Basing their description of the sedimentary evolution of the Nuussuaq area on articles in the 'Geology of Greenland' makes their succession summary not only out-of-date but also partly erroneous. They should not only have relied on the south side of Nuussuaq for the best evidence, they should also have included Koch's study on the Palaeocene Quikavsak Formation for them to have come up with a better-informed analysis. Other corrections to Clift et al's paper are presented.

New constraints on the formation of the non-volcanic continental Galicia-Flemish Cap conjugate margins
Article Abstract:
Kinematic reconstructions show that the southeastern Flemish Cap margin and the Galicia margin are conjugates. A detachment zone, active since the beginning of rifting, serves as the S reflector. This zone has an outcropping portion observed as a major master fault beneath the continental slope. The extension model for the two conjugate margins is complete lithospheric pure shear, with simple shear affecting only the upper crust.

Measuring lithospheric stretching on Tethyan passive margins
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate initial estimates of lithospheric stretching. The study focused on 63 stratigraphic sections centering on the Italian Southern Alps. These sections allowed for measurement errors in palaeowater-depth. Results show that lithospheric stretching started in the early to mid-Triassic age and continued for 30-40 Ma, supporting conclusions from earlier research measurements.
