Geometry of thin-skinned tectonic systems in relation to detachment layer thickness in sedimentary basins

Article Abstract:

The effect of the thickness of a detachment layer on the structural style of the layer in extensional and contractional systems is illustrated. Detachment constitutes the whole thickness of a single, mechanically weak layer in a multilayer. The models provide a framework showing spatial variations in salt basins with regard to detachment layer thickness, which are then combined in a general description of allochthon geometry in sedimentary basins.

Neogene to quaternary sedimentary basins in the south Adriatic (Central Mediterranean): Foredeeps and lithospheric buckling

Article Abstract:

Research investigating the lithospheric and foredeeps buckling processes taking place in the sedimentary basins of the South Adriatic Basin area in the neogene and quaternary periods is presented. Particular attention is given to developing a paleobathymetry of the area.

Rifted margin formation in the south Tyrrhenian Sea: a high-resolution seismic profile across the north Sicily passive continental margin

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning a new, 150 km long seismic line across the continental margin of north Sicily are discussed. It has been possible to establish a tectonic frame for the development of steep and rough morphology in coastal areas of north Sicily.
