Terrestrial record of Laurentide Ice Sheet reorganization during Heinrich events: comments and reply
Article Abstract:
Jaco H Baas and Joachim Schonfeld and Gary N Meyer et al. criticized the association of local Heinrich events to overall ice sheet behavior. Contrary to their assertions, lithographic evidences support the theory that the three major Late Wisconsinan glacial flows of the Rainy lobe in Central Minnesota and the rapid ice retreat during the Laurentide Ice Sheet were related to Heinrich events. Carbonates found in the Hewitt till and other rocks from the Hudson Bay region manifested rich carbonate content, proof of sediment-laden iceberg from the Hudson Bay into the North Atlantic Ocean.

Terrestrial record of Laurentide Ice Sheet reorganization during Heinrich events: comments and reply
Article Abstract:
The assertion by Howard D Mooers and JD Lehr that rapid ice-marginal recessions to Heinrich events such as the sediment-laden iceberg flows from the Hudson Bay into the North Atlantic Ocean runs contrary to glacial stratigraphic evidences during the Laurentide ice sheet reorganization. The occurrence of the Heinrich event Vermillion in the suggested range of iceberg calving oscillations and the trade-wind-forced upwelling event in the South Atlantic suggest that Hv is caused by similar mechanisms behind the other Heinrich events.

Terrestrial record of Laurentide Ice Sheet reorganization during Heinrich events: comments and reply (comment on Howard D. Mooers and J.D. Lehr, Geology, vol. 25, p. 987, 1997)
Article Abstract:
Howard D Mooers and JD Lehr disregarded several researches relevant to their study on Heinrich events and the rapid ice retreats from Rainy lobe moraines in Minnesota. This resulted to the unsubstantiated analysis of the entire Laurentide Ice Sheet reorganization. Some of the issues they failed to consider include the lithologic similarities and drumlins orientation of the Rainy lobe moraine and the time of transport of the ice sheets from the Hudson Bay.
