Diffusion controlled growth of pyroxene-bearing margins on amphibolite bands in the granulite facies of Rogaland (Southwestern Norway): implications for granulite formation
Article Abstract:
The Rogaland granulites of Southern Norway contains three different types of anhydrous pyroxene-bearing margins which are found at the contact between silica under saturated metabasites and charnockitic gneisses. The growth of these margins post-dates any deformation, and a diffusion process caused by the microns(SiO2) gradient found between the adjacent rocks causes their formation. In the absence of partial melting process or a(H2O) gradients, the granulite facies parageneses can be obtained. Metasomatic reactions are responsible for controlling element mobilities in small-scale granule formation. The formation of a couple of pyroxenes in the first zone is due to the variable contrast of plageoclase composition between the adjacent rocks. The orthropyroxene in the gneiss is responsible for the absence of the second clinopyroxene bearing zone in the third margin.

U-Pb monazite ages in amphibolite- to granulite-facies orthogneiss reflect hydrous mineral breakdown reactions: Sveconorwegian Province of SW Norway
Article Abstract:
A study examined the correlation of mineral ages with petrologic shifts in rock suites in zones with escalating metamorphic grade. This exploration focused on the Rogaland-Vest Agder region of the Proterozoic Sveconorwegian Province in southwest Norway, which features a calc-alkaline augen gneiss suite. This terrain revealed two metamorphic phases: a phase of regional metamorphism associated with orogenic thickening and a phase of low-pressure thermal metamorphism linked to the intrusion of the 931 +/- Ma anorthosite-charnockite Rogaland igneous complex. U-Pb geochronological data were gathered from the suite and granulite-facies charnockitic gneisses.
