U-Pb zircon and Sm-Nd geochronology of mafic and ultramafic rocks from the central part of the Tauern Window (eastern Alps)
Article Abstract:
The utilization of uranium-lead zircon (U-Pb zircon) and samarium-neodymium (Sm-Nd) geochemical study of mafic-ultramafic rocks made the basement analysis of the Tauern Window in the Swiss Alps possible. The U-Pb zircon and Sm-Nd geochronological dating identified magmatic and metamorphic events within the Alpine fold belt. Isotopic analyses on whole rocks, zircons, garnets and sphenes in the different areas and formations in the region suggested that portions of the pre-Variscan basement developed during the Pan-Africa cycle.

Differentiation processes in an unusual iron-rich alumina-poor Archean ultramafic/mafic igneous body, Ontario
Article Abstract:
Petrographic observations and geochemistry of the Boston Creek ferropicrite (BCF) reveals the factors responsible for differentiation processes in ferropicrite liquids. BCF is a layered Fe-rich Al-poor Archean ultramafic igneous body. That BCF has an effusive origin is shown by the presence of flow top breccia, spinifex, vesicles and altered glass. This is also proved by the fact that BCF is in direct contact with pillowed and massive basalt flows.

Age and evolution of scheelite-hosting rocks in the Felbertal deposit (Eastern Alps): U-Pb geochronology of zircon and titanite
Article Abstract:
Multi-stage thermal evolution is primarily responsible for variations observed in the U-Pb ages of zircon and titanite extracted from rocks of the Felbertal scheelite deposit located in the Eastern Alps. The multi-episode evolution process of the Felbertal ore bodies involves primary scheelite formation, remobilizations during Variscan plutonism, later metamorphism and Alpine overprint.
