Using thermochronology to understand orogenic erosion
Article Abstract:
The general aspects of the use of thermochronology for the study of orogenic erosion are reviewed starting with the fundamental bases of thermochronometric systems. Important techniques used in both active and decaying orogens for interpreting the spatial and temporal patterns of erosion are described and examples illustrating the insights these approaches provide are given.

Bedrock rivers and the geomorphology of active orogens
Article Abstract:
Bedrock rivers set much of the relief structure of active orogens and dictate rates and patterns of denudation. Laboratory experimentation, instrumentation of rapidly evolving field sites, and exploitation of well constrained natural experiments in river profile evolution promise to be the most fruitful avenues of pursuit.

Bed material transport and the morphology of alluvial river channels
Article Abstract:
The connections between fluvial sediment transport and river channel form are explored. This is done by examining sediment transport regimes on the basis of the Shields number of the flow-a nondimensional measure of flow forces imposed on the bed that is scaled to sediment caliber.
