Andropov Misses the Party
Article Abstract:
Yuri Andropov's absence from the celebration of the Russian revolution has increased doubts concerning his power hold. The Politburo contains three logical contenders for Andropov's position. Konstantin Chernenko is the weakest contender, being three years older than Andropov. Chernenko lost much influence with the passing of Brezhnev. Mikhail Gorbachev is considered Andropov's succession choice. Grigori Romanov is very ambitious but suffers from a decadent reputation.

A Check-up for Andropov
