Assessment of the socioeconomic status of depressed regions
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates regions in the Russian Federation that are in need of economic assistance from the state; from a Russian perspective, both microeconomics and macroeconomics are necessary in determining the needs of each region, due to the distortion of facts about their socioeconomic conditions. Economic, integral, financial, and standard of life indicators are all taken into account; spheres of activity and economic potential in the territory are analyzed, as well as interterritorial interaction.

This article evaluates the impact of criminal activity on economic growth and development in post-communist Russia. Economic analysis of criminal activity and law enforcement are given; crime is viewed as a form of risky business and organized crime is considered monopolistic; law enforcement activities' goals are to optimize crime levels, and economic substantiation is considered for the choice of punishment.

The financial base of local self-government
Article Abstract:
The management of Russian municipal budgets are examined, focusing on how local governments are working in financial deficit due to a rise in local expenditures. The authors discuss the role of tax revenues in local budget management, and suggest methods in organizing budget processes.
