Bangladesh seeks more investment
Article Abstract:
Bangladesh is more and more attractive to foreign investors, perhaps made so by some of the economic problems affecting much of Asia. The country has had much success over the recent years in keeping macroeconomic stability. It has had a low inflation rate and steady foreign exchange reserves. According to Farooq Sobhan, executive chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI), the negative image Bangladesh has had is declining and more investors will be attracted. More than $1.5 bil from outside Bangladesh has been invested in the country, mostly in the service sector, over 18 months.

Key business issues surround the oil and gas prospects in the region, but questions over development and dispute over Caspian sub-sea ownership continue. Lack of financial control, concealed unemployment figures, banking systems and currency conversion are major constraints to business.

Lack of investment threatens growth
Article Abstract:
India is in need of urgent infrastructure development. It faces power shortages, congested ports, damaged road networks, and other related problems.
