Bilateralism in the interwar world economy
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on trends in the international trading system during the interwar period. An index of bilateralism was constructed for 10 countries with diverse interwar experiences during the period 1920-1938. Results showed that discriminatory trade policies in the 1930s did not lead to a general increase in bilateralism. Instead, such policies resulted in new regionalization patterns but continued to be undertaken on a multilateral basis within the new trading bloc.

Strategic trade policy with internationally owned firms
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the effect of international firm ownership on the design of optimal strategic trade policy. Analysis showed the presence of ownership structures resulting in optimal policies which spur duopolists to behave more collusively. This paves the way for the resolution of conflicts between national and international rationality in a policy game with retaliation, consequently making strategic trade policy appear to have more potential.
