The bottled sauces market in the UK has risen since 1989 to reach 221.9 million pounds sterling in 1993, with 1994 sales forecast to total 229.8 million pounds sterling. Fastest growing sectors since 1989 have been thick sauces (other than tomato ketchup and brown sauce), soy sauce and thin sauces (excluding Worcestershire). The two largest sectors continue to be tomato ketchup and traditional brown sauce. Leading companies and brands in the market include H.J. Heinz, which had a 56% share of the tomato ketchup market in 1994, and HP Foods, which leads the brown sauce market.
