Sales of ladies pants in the UK are predicted to be worth some 380 million pounds sterling, and bra sales should increase by 13% to the value of 573 million pounds sterling, by the year 2001. Sales of bras and pants have increased continuously since 1992 to reach a total of 845 million pounds sterling in 1997. The market for bras has been particularly buoyant, with sales growing by 42% between 1992-97. Marks and Spencer PLC hold the largest share of the bra market, with Triumph the most popular branded make. Money spent on advertising bras and pants decreased by 14% between 1992-96.
