British Farming Is Rich Harvest
Article Abstract:
British agriculture is successful. Output and productivity have survived booms and recessions. Government policy has alway encouraged agriculture. Areas considered include breeding, mechanization, fertilizers and sprays, improvements, and innovations. Recent European Economic Community (EEC) agriculture policies may change the British picture. Some problem areas in Britain include efficiency, yield and over-capitalization. Graphs are included.

British stocks placed high in the 'Economist' 1983 portfolio which rose by an average sixty-two per cent. BSR was at the top. An American company which fared well was Federated Department Stores. The forecast for 1984 is given. In addition to international companies, American companies Mack Trucks, Motorola, and Bell South were listed in the top ten.
