Building a new organization for nature conservation
Article Abstract:
The strategic management involved in the reorganizationof the Nature Conservancy Council for England into English Nature in 1990 by the British government is discussed. Increased teamwork and an information systems strategy were identified as necessary for the viability of the organization and were addressed by staff training workshops and external and internal auditing of communications, respectively. The effective implementationof this strategy and the development of an organizational culture are identified as the factors that led to the success of this change.
